Just Can't Keep Up

Hello again, everyone!

This is going to have to be a quick update, since I'm exhausted. (Like that's new, right?) Seamus and Ava are doing well. Seamus just recently turned 6 months old! I can't believe that so much time has already flown by! He's starting to pull himself up, and should be crawling sometime soon! We are also expecting (and hoping and praying) that he cuts some teeth soon! At his doctor's appointment this week, we found out that he is now 17 lbs, a weight that I believe Ava didn't hit until much closer to a year old. Amazing! He is such a happy little boy! He always has a smile for his big sister and is always ready to play with her. We just started putting him in his crib to sleep. It's been interesting, since Ava still occasionally wakes up at night. And even if she doesn't and Seamus does, one of us has to do a mad dash into their room to scoop him up and out of the room quickly before he does wake her up.

Between the two of them, we do sometimes stop and just smile at the pure, unadulterated insanity. For example, if our beautiful two year old suddenly melts into a tantrum, often, poor little Seamus has no clue what's happening and begins to cry because his sister is SCREAMING. Sometimes I stand in the middle of the two of them and feel, I imagine, what a person must feel when a tornado is passing through. Stephen and I have done some research on these lovely expressions of frustration and anger erupting from our angel and have decided that we have reached the peak of the tantrum stage and it's only downhill from here. This is our glimmer of hope: we will someday soon have our sweet, obedient, happy little girl back, full time!! :)

Joking aside, Ava has been great with Seamus. She loves him very much and makes that evident on a daily basis. Sometimes she'll say, "I love you, Mommy!" And when I respond to her that I love her as well, she'll look at me and say, "Mommy, I love SEAMUS!!" And our favorite moment, though it's not one of her best moments, is when we do take Seamus out of their room at night, she stops us, saying, "MommyDaddy, don't take Seamus! Put him back, MommyDaddy!"

Ava had a big day yesterday: Mommy took her to get her very first haircut! She was absolutely terrified the entire time, but consequently sat very still and asked shakily if Mommy would please hold her hand? An easy request to acquiesce. :) Ava loves her new haircut and Mommy and Daddy love that it isn't a screaming fight to brush her hair anymore! :)

Alright, so much for my "quick" update. That's all for now folks.

Oh, by the way, Stephen and I are fine too.

:)
